This is a study for the figure of the thirteenth-century Prince David of Scotland, Earl of Huntingdon in one of the four windows designed by Burne-Jones in 1888 for Dundee Free Library; the other panels depict three more heroes of Scottish history Sir William Wallace, Robert Bruce and Provost Halliburton and in 1889 Burne-Jones designed two further windows for the library.
