William Glasby, born in London 1863, trained with James Powell & Sons and worked for Henry Holiday. Sewter lists him as working for Morris &7 Co. from 1909 to 1923 at the same time working independently ( cited in Tony Benyon, Journal of Stained Glass 2011) A superior late Morris & Co. design taking motifs from Burne-Jones's designs for stained glass at St Cuthbert's Church, Newcastle of 1897, specifically the draped throne in David lamenting and David Consoled, and the standing child is of a similar type to those preferred by Burne-Jones.
