The cartoons for these two figures were originally made in 1872 and 1873 for Peterhouse College, Cambridge. In Sewter's catalogue this stained glass panel is referred to as being located in Peterborough because at that time it had not been traced, he had obtained the reference from the scale drawing in the Sanford Berger collection (William Morris Collection 2000.5.988). Cotterstock Hall is located near Peterborough (Cotterstock Hall, Cotterstock, North Northamptonshire).
