The present collection of photographs was found in a fragmentary condition and restored and mounted by Bill Waters, co-author of the monograph, Burne-Jones (Barrie and Jenkins, London 1973). He has identified the majority of the designs in the album. It contains a large collection of stained glass designs, also designs for the Rounton Grange Romance of the Rose embroideries. This collection of small photographs, clearly made for reference for either Burne-Jones himself or Morris and Company is an excellent example of Hollyer's collaborative work with artists. A similar collection of small photographs of G. F. Watts's work exists at the Watts Gallery, Compton, made to illustrate Mrs Watts's catalogue of her husband's work.
