Sketchbook with tan cloth covers, remains of cloth ties. 14 pages; the remaining pages are are in uncut drawing block. A number of pages were removed before the sketchbook was acquired by the Fogg. Pages of heavy cream wove paper, measuring 272 x 181 mm. Drawings are in graphite. All are signed with the artist's initials and many are inscribed by the artist's son Philip. Commentary: Studies for the "Perseus" series (begun 1875), "The Passing of Venus," "The Wheel of Fortune," (1875-83), "The Car of Love (Chariot of Love, Love's Wayfaring)" (begun 1870), and the St. Catherine Window, Christ Church, Oxford (1878).
