One of three studies for the same figure with small differences of pose. They may be figure studies of Psyche. They are all made in the red chalk that Burne-Jones used during the early to mid 1860s, especially in drawings for Psyche in 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'. Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
