Designed for the Cyclographic Society, this drawing was intended as an illustration to Coleridge's poem in which the heroine is called Genevieve (Surtees, A Catalogue Raisonné , I.9).

I also have the "Genevieve" (2) of 1848 that belonged to Coventry Patmore, who presented it to Burne-Jones a few years back and lady Burne-Jones gave it to me the other day. E.B.J. offered it to me the last time I aw him but I refused it then not to seem graspimng!
