Various artists were employed in the early stages of The Firm and the drawing style in this work is from a different hand to that of the cartoon. It is closer to the essence of Burne-Jones, particularly in the drawing of the face. The drawing of the leaves is taken from those of Morris in the cartoon.
It remained the only complete scheme of glazing for a church, designed and executed at all the same period, and is thus of outstanding importance as an example of the firm's early work.
