St. Luke stands with one foot resting on a stump. He rests an open book on his raised knee and writes in it with a quill pen. Behind him is a winged ox. Luke wears a hood and has a halo behind his head.
A drawing of the figure of St. Luke the Evangelist as he appears in the stained glass west window of All Hallows Church, Allerton installed in 1876 (originally designed by Burne-Jones for Jesus College Chapel, Cambridge in 1873). Allerton being located 3 miles from Liverpool, it is likely that the Warrington studio made the copy at this location possibly c. 1888.
