Noting that his "heart is set on a Zinc edifice"; reporting that he has "had a vile time with this unseasonable cold -- bad nights ... and all manner of devils let loose"; asking if she wants any books, and mentioning [Charles Dickens's] Great Expectations and The Uncommercial Traveller"; telling her that he "hear[s] every day from Brantwood" [the country house belonging to John Ruskin].
