A bodycolour and gold drawing of a flying full-length female figure, pouring gold water from a pitcher on her left shoulder. Signed "EB-J". Pouring water was a favourite motif used by Burne-Jones from 'Temperantia' (1872) onwards, but the style of the drapery is more characteristic of later works. Payment records attest to Queen Alexandra buying a corpus of drawings by Burne-Jones in 1904. Though the provenance of the other Burne-Jones drawings in the Royal Collection is unknown, it does not seem likely that they would have belonged to Queen Victoria.
