This charming landscape composition is unique in the body of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Company tiles. Formerly tentatively attributed to Philip Webb, it is uncharacteristic of this artist since Philip Webb's draftsmanship is more accurate, even allowing that the tiles are painted by an amateur after the original. It is closer to the landscapes of Burne-Jones made in the late 1850s, in the backgrounds of Buondelmonte's Wedding and Going to Battle ( details illustrated ).
