ROELANTS (Hendrik Adriaan Marius), was born June 29, 1865 in Kethel en Spaland, the son of the well-known book printer and publisher Hendrik Adriaan Marius Roelants and Johanna Cornelia Jonker . After working for some time in his father's extensive business, Roelants established himself in 1889 as a publisher of chapbooks in Amsterdam. He was also a zealous practitioner of genealogy, as evidenced by the voluminous work Gulden Boek van Schiedam†Roelants had envisioned treating the history of the distinguished families of the city of Schiedam in different parts in this series, but before he could put the second part to press, he died of a lingering illness in Putten on 10 Sept. 1901. In addition to this great work, Roelants wrote two more works on Venezuela and San Marino, while his contributions in the field of genealogy and location descriptions can be found in the Schiedamsche Jaarboekje and in the genealogical journals.
