The drawing at the centre of the page is for the Death of Medusa I and II and it is closer to the final painting than the compositional drawing in the Sketchbook held in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, 1085 folio 21v. of c. 1872 thus this sketchbook was being used c.1875. Dr Franz Bock. die kleinodien des Heil Romischen The work describes imperial or royal sceptres, diadems and crowns, orbs and robes kept at the Schatzkammer, Vienna, and elsewhere. The forms of these regalia derive from those of the court of Charlemagne, first emperor of the renewed western Roman Empire, and ultimately from the insignia and ceremonial used by Roman emperors at Constantinople. (from https://www.royalacademy.org.uk) The reference to Muller's Ancient Art is "Ancient Art and it Remains or a Manual of Archeology of Art" by Karl Otfried Muller (1797-1840) a new edition published by Henry G Bohn 1852. The entry in the list "ch. Lenormant & J. de Witte..." refers to Elite des monuments céramographiques: materiaux pour l'histoire des religions et des moers de l'antiquite, (Published in Paris 1844)
