'And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters' from the series 'The Beginning of the World', woodcut engraved by William Harcourt Hooper from a design by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, England, published in 1902. One of a set of 25 woodcuts depicting scenes from the story of Adam and Eve. These 25 woodcuts were originally designed for an illustrated edition of J. W. Mackail's 'Biblia Innocentium', to be published by the Kelmscott Press. The edition was not proceeded with, owing to the death of William Morris. The 25 completed cuts were issued in book form in 1902.
