Recto: the general poses of this figure is found in the upper right figure group of both 'The Prince Enters the Wood' from the 1870 version of the 'Briar Rose' and the 'Briar Wood' from the 1884 version of the series. In both cases there is modification of the the legs, in the 1870 version depiction of the forearms has been eliminated. Lower right edge of paper is a small ink or paint stain (matches that on f.10 verso). Verso: with the exception of the hanging right arm and hand the pose of this figure is the same as that found on f.11 recto. Neither the 1870 nor 1884 version of the 'Prince Enters the Wood' nor the 'Briar Wood' makes use of the hanging arm in the upper-right hand figure.
