Acc no 5897-1859 This statue in stucco is made after Lorenzi Stoldo, in Florence. There is no evidence as to the date at which the cast was made, though the fact that the figure is not completely nude might indicate a dating in the late 18th or early 19th century (cit. Pope-Hennessy). The figure reproduces a bronze statuette in the Studiolo of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The subject of the bronze is variously identified as Venus or Galatea. Stoldo Lorenzi (1534-1583) was initially influenced by Pierino da Vinci. He was employed as a bronze sculptor in the Duomo at Pisa (1582) and in the Studiolo of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
