Bought by the present owner's brother from an antique shop in Edinburgh in 1959, where it had a companion panel, untraced.

The panel belongs to a series of The Story of Tristram and Isoude, see Bradford City Art Gallery; and is perhaps the version which was displayed at the 1864 Exhibition of Stained Glass at South Kensington.
