This sketch contains a series of scenes from the life of St Frideswide, which were later adapted for use in the stained glass window in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, made by James Powell & Sons. At this time Burne-Jones had little experience in designing for stained glass and the scenes here depicted had to be considerably adapted.
