In response to my enquiries in the Hendon Times, several correspondents, including Mr Jeffrey Evans, vice-chairman of The Middlesex Society, suggested it may have been the private chapel of Highfield House, which was situated in that part of Golders Green where the name is preserved in several street-names. The house was occupied by the Metcalf family until about 1910, was subsequently used as a Roman school, and demolished about 1930. The site is now occupied by a block of flats, Windsor Court. I have not been able to obtain any confirmation of this suggestion.
