An illustration to the story "The Ring given to Venus" in the January section of William Morris's The Earthly Paradise. Know that this image there did stand With arm put forth and open hand, As erst on Ida triumphing; And now did Laurence set the ring On the forth finger fair and straight, And laughing, "Though mayst bear the weight," Turned back again unto the play. Present location unknown, the existent photograph is from the 1901 Whitechapel exhibition
