Burne-Jones made a number of illustrations and letters for William Morris's translation of The Aeneid, on which they worked together from 1873-1875 on Sunday mornings. They planned to make it a large and illuminated manuscript, but it was never finished. There are a number of illuminated letters in the Fitzwilliam Museum and additional illustrations in the Whitworth and Ashmolean Museums. The manuscript, which belonged to Fairfax Murray, is now in America.
