There is evidence in these two drawings of these being examples of studio assistant's work with highlights added by the Master. The firm outline around the figures suggests another hand has copied a genuine drawing, in order to give experience before laying in the figures on to the canvas. This process enabled the Burne-Jones Studio to produce a large body of work, otherwise the artist's output would have been severely limited.
