One of eleven tracings in Birmingham's collection for 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris''The Earthly Paradise'.This study depicts Psyche, at centre, kneeling before the throne of the queen of the gods, Juno. This composition was not used in the illustrations for 'The Earthly Paradise' or in any of the paintings for 1 Palace Green. The figure of Juno is directly derived from an ancient Greek sculpture of the goddess in the British Museum.
