A design which relates to possibly The Sirens, a painting Burne-Jones was working on in the 1890s or the illustration in the Kelmscott Chaucer to The Frankeleyns Tale where a maiden waits on the shore while two ships in full sail approach, the sketches for which are held in the Fitzwilliam museum. They show variants with three ships in full sail. A similar ship can be seen in the stained glass design Voyage to Vinland the Good, 1884 (Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle) and The Ship - Design in Three Tints of Gold.
