This is a design for stained glass by Morris & Co for the Church of St John the Evangelist, Torquay, Devon. Two whole-length figures, each vested in chasuble and mitre, and each holding a pastoral staff. St. Richard stands on the left, a chalice at his feet, while St. Boniface is on the right, holding a book.
The 1939 Catalogue of Drawings states that they were made in 1865 for a window at Liverpool, and used again at Meole Brace about 1870 ; but no such window exists at Liverpool; some of the designs were indeed used again at Meole Brace, but the whole series of 6 drawings are studies for the Torquay window.
