This cartoon was an intermediate tracing design for the stained glass window at St Edbury's, Bicester, Oxfordshire, and later used elsewhere in the mid-1860s. This design for 'Faith' bears no resemblance to a later, more successful design of the same figure of 1872 in the collection of Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada. There is another version in Birmingham's collection of 'Faith' from around the same time, where this figure's long hair and halo are replaced by a large cloak.
