Burne-Jones was paid £3 for the drawings of Adam and Eve. This suggests that the workshop created the cartoons based upon them. The leaves are in the style of William Morris and Eve's face appears to be more likely from Burne-Jones's own hand. At this early date in the formation of the Firm, close co-operation between designer and workshop was essential in order for the finished products to be of the required standard.

It remained the only complete scheme of glazing for a church, designed and executed at all the same period, and is thus of outstanding importance as an example of the firm's early work.
