Evidence that Burne-Jones visited Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice in 1862 is given by Georgiana quoting a letter from Ruskin written while the artist and his wife were in Venice " I want a very slight one (sketch) of the Sebastian in St. Rocco (Scuola) and a rough sketch, in colour, of the High Priest in the Circumcision - in Scuola by the stair foot" Memorials Vol 1 p 247 The rafters open to the sky Burne-Jones borrowed when he made his sketch for the Dalziel Nativity of 1862.
