A drapery study for the figure of St John, standing beneath Christ on the Cross, with the Virgin, in the upper panel of the central light of the East Window of St Edmund Hall Chapel, Oxford. The Crucifixion scene had originally been designed for St Editha's Church, Amington in 1864, but the figures of St John, the Virgin and the angels surrounding the Cross, were specially designed for this window. The same figure of St John also occurs in the fourth light of the East Window of the Church of Jesus, Troutbeck, Westmoreland in 1873. Verso is a sketch in pencil of a nude figure of Christ and other figures, intended for the cartoon of 'The Baptism of Christ', also in Birmingham's collection.
