The central drawing of the girl in prison is taken from the Burne-Jones's watercolour of the same title, this drawing was presumably made as a design for a silver panel that was subsequently worked to adorn the cover of a Kelmscott publication. The decoration around the drawing are by Catterson Smith himself, made under the supervision of Burne-Jones. The worked silver panel appears in The Studio An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Arts Charles Holmes 1897 illus p 120
