This drawing was the one from which T M Rooke copied to transfer the figure on to the canvas. it is an example of how finished the drawings could be even though it was to play a minor part in the finished composition. It was a template to work from and then intended to be used later by the Master for him to finish the passage in the painting. It demonstrates how perfunctory the assistants's work could be compared to the quality of the Master.
