This is a design for one of the set of six tapestries made by Morris and Co. (1891-1894) commissioned by Mr. W.K. D'Arcy, an Australian mining millionaire for the dining room of his country house, Stanmore Hall, near Uxbridge. the tapestries were to illustrate The Quest for the Holy Grail. The scenes can be considered as the climax of Morris' and Burne-Jones' collaboration in tapestry manufacture. the furnishings were also made by Morris and Co.
