Sketch-book, containing figure and drapery studies, including studies for the paintings "The Depths of the Sea" (1886) and "The Legend of the Briar Rose" (1884-90). 58 pages of white wove Whatman paper, mounted on linen guards, full-bound in white vellum, gold tooled, with doublure, and with 3 ribbon ties (another missing) terminated with glass beads. Inside the front cover is the book-plate, drawn in ink, of Lady Horner to whom the sketch-book was given by the artist. All ribbon ties no longer extant JR 12/10/2016
