The model used for the angels faces was May Morris, a series of photograph portraits were taken of her in the early 1870s by Robert Faulkner & Co. aged about twelve (acc. nos NPG x129530 and NPG x29071 illustrated here), these were possibly posed by Burne-Jones himself.
